Google Introduces Gemini 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite, and 3.5 Flash Cyber

Google has announced three new additions to the Gemini AI family: Gemini 3.6 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber.

The new models are designed to deliver faster performance, lower costs, and specialized capabilities for developers building AI agents and enterprise applications.

In the announcement, Google said, “Our Flash series of models is built to meet the sweet spot of efficiency and quality to enable scaling agentic workflows. “

Gemini 3.6 Flash: Better Performance

Gemini 3.6 Flash succeeds Gemini 3.5 Flash as Google’s latest production-ready Flash model.

Google says the model delivers stronger coding performance, improved reasoning, and better multimodal capabilities while using fewer output tokens.

According to the company, Gemini 3.6 Flash reduces output token usage by 17% overall, with some coding tasks seeing reductions of up to 65%.

Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite: Built for Speed

Google also introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, describing it as its fastest and most affordable Flash model.

The model is built for applications that require low-latency, cost-efficient inference, including chatbots, document processing, data extraction, and large-scale automation.

Google says Flash-Lite is now available through the Gemini API.

3.5 Flash Cyber: Focuses on Cybersecurity

Alongside the new Flash models, Google unveiled Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber.

Unlike previous Gemini models, Flash Cyber has been developed specifically for cybersecurity.

The company says it can identify software vulnerabilities, validate security findings, and assist security teams with vulnerability remediation.

Google added that Flash Cyber has already been used internally to improve the security of products including Chrome, Android, Cloud, Ads, and YouTube.

Initially, the model will be available through a limited-access pilot for governments and trusted partners.

Why Google Is Expanding the Flash Lineup

Rather than relying on a single model for every use case, Google is expanding the Gemini portfolio with specialized models.

Google’s latest Gemini models also support its broader AI strategy, including features like Gemini-powered dashboards in Google Ads.

The latest releases target different priorities:

  • Gemini 3.6 Flash for performance
  • Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite for speed and affordability
  • Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber for cybersecurity

The move reflects growing demand for AI models optimized for specific enterprise workloads.

What Does This Mean for SEO and AI Search?

These new models do not directly change Google Search rankings or AI Overviews.

However, they are expected to power more AI applications, agents, and developer tools in the future.

For website owners, the takeaway remains the same: creating clear, trustworthy, and well-structured content is still the best way to improve AI search visibility across platforms.

Availability

Google said Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite are available through Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, Vertex AI, and Android Studio.

Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is launching as a limited-access preview for selected organizations.
